Tiger In Tadoba

The Royal Bengal tiger roams in parts of India. The Tadoba Tiger Reserve area serves as the prime habitat of Indian Tiger. Tigers mostly hunt large and medium-sized animals. Sambhar, chital, wild pig, langur and nilgai are its favored prey in Tadoba. Occasionally, gaur is also hunted. A tigress normally gives birth to 3-4 cubs after gestation period of 105 to 110 days usually, however, only 1-2 cubs survive the vicissitudes of a life in forest.

This is 4 foot in height and 20 kg in weight. It's slim, agile and strong body makes the wild dog one of the best long distance runners. This strength they use to tire out their prey to exhaustion and bring it down successfully. Wild dogs live in packs with strict hierarchy. They prefer open habitats. During the day they can be found on jungle roads, trails, river beds and grasslands. The wild dogs are highly social and co-operative animals. Wild dogs do not bark. Their best known sound is a whistle. These calls are used for maintaining contact with other members of the pack.

This is 6 foot in height. Gaur is gigantic animal, often mistakenly referred to as Indian bison. A fully grown adult bull weighs as much as 1000 kg., black-coloured large bulls look a shiny mass of rippling muscles. The horns of the male have flatter curve while those of the female tends to curve sharply inward.
Gaur lives in small herds led by adult female. Adult males mostly live alone, joining a herd only during the peak breeding season. They graze on grasses, particularly bamboo as well as eat shoots, bark and fruits. Due to their formidable size the gaur has few enemies. Leopard and wild dog packs occasionally manage to kill unguarded calves. Only the tiger kill a full-grown adult but that is also not very common.
